It's a fun thing, but it is not included in WL2.  The AI would have to change to care about towers/villages.

They also have the effect of making the map a little more interesting to look at.

WL1 had towers that changed their flags whenever stacks walked on them, or past them.  These towers provide a small income per turn.

It's fun because it's one more goal for players to have.  Wizards are more useful.

There is a semantic problem with fortified stacks appearing as towers also.

In the end it's like a 1x1 city that can't produce units, or be a vectoring end-point.  But hey, they might as well be destructible.

A better word for it (instead of tower) is "village".

Maybe the strength of the stack matters.  E.g. the villagers are only swayed by stronger stacks.

Also, it would be fun if the village reverts to neutral if not visited for a long time (30-40 turns).
