I'm sorry. You can delete the project. If or when i find the time to finish it, i will re-submit it.

Hi,

are you still planning to use Savannah for your project? If not, please tell us--this will make us gain some time to review other projects.

Best regards.

Hi,

when I wrote "upload a new tarball" I meant to ask you to upload a new tarball with the new files, not the old one again. Sorry, if I wrote that misleading.

So, can you please upload a tarball with the updated files? It's important that every copyrightable file longer than 10 lines contains one copyright notice and license header or its license is mentioned in the README (such as for the ram files). But see my other message for the details.

Regarding the tarball size: I can receive attachments up to 25 megabytes in size per mail. If you don't want to upload it somewhere you can send it me this way.

Best regards.

Like this: http://simbelmyne.nl/convolve.tar.gz ? (How do i upload files slightly larger than the 16MB attachment limit here?)

Yes, make that GPL3. Hope i did it right; i have no experiences with these legal issues. To be honest i don't care too much, even though i know it's important. For my part you can just throw in an arbitrary license header if it would be lacking somewhere :p

Thank you.
Maarten

Hi,

thanks for submitting your project to Savannah! I'm reviewing your submission and noticed the following issues:

You submitted your project specifying GNU GPL v2 or later. The source files in your tarball however contain license headers saying GNU GPL v3 or later. This is a conflict, so please choose what to do:

  • You change the license headers so that they say GNU GPL v2 or later.
  • The license headers stay as they are (GPL v3), and I change the license field of your project to GNU GPL v3 or later (must be done by site administrators). I'd recommend this, but it's up to you what to do here.

Please include a verbatim copy of the GNU GPL named COPYING in your tarball, depending on your choice in the paragraph above either the GNU GPL v2 or the GNU GPL v3 (URLs point to the plain text versions).

Some files are missing a copyright notice and license header. These are copyrightable files longer than 10 lines and include shell scripts, auxiliary files (such as README) as well as sound files (flac) and the HRTF files. Please add copyright notices and license headers to these files in the style done in the other source files. If this is not possible for some reason, please state copyright and license for the files in README (you can group them together).

I have a proposal for the README file. Please bear in mind that I'm only proposing this, you don't have to do that:
Since README is a auxiliary file, I recommend to use a permissive license, such as the one following. It is also used by the INSTALL file, which gets copied into Autotools projects, so I'm not presenting you something completely unfounded:

Copying and distribution of this file, with or without modification,
are permitted in any medium without royalty provided the copyright
notice and this notice are preserved.  This file is offered as-is,
without warranty of any kind.

If you don't want to use this for the README, please just add a GPL license header.

Your project meets the requirements in all other aspects. Please update your files and upload a new tarball here, so I can make sure your project can be accepted soon.

Best regards.

Registration Details

  • Name: Sound effect/HRTF Convolver
  • System Name:  convolve
  • Type: non-GNU software & documentation
  • License: GNU General Public License v2 or later

Description:

This program takes a sound stream as its input and convolves it with a filter specified at the commandline, writing the result to standard output. It supports arbitrary samplerate input, resampling the provided filter. An arbitrary number of input channels is mapped onto an arbitrary number of output channels depending on the number of channels in the filter file, one for each input->output channel combination. Gain and a simple limiter are controlled via the commandline.

This can be used to apply finite impulse response filters, such as recorded reverb impulses or head-related transfer functions (to create "3D sound"), to the input file. Since FFTs are used for convolution, this can be done in real-time, even with large filters (>2s).

Also included is a script used to generate impulse responses, and, as a reference, my personal home-recorded HRTFs.
