Indeed, we should have a look to see what good webpages do. For example what does the DuckDuckGo scanning say for gnu.org? We should find some good pages that have a good ranking there and model it based on them.

Infact, a link to the privacy statement can also be put in the footer (task #15648).

Good news is that the report shows no trackers found :-)

Yes. Actually, the website can have a provoking privacy banner to encourage visitors take action on protecting their privacy and decentralizing the information power.

I do not know exactly what steps we need to take. But it looks like we need a privacy policy document anyway :-)

Maybe there are some templates available out there.

This is indeed an important point and we want maneage.org to receive the best privacy ranking.

I am just curious: does DuckDuckGo mention what trackers it has found? We don't use trackers, so if there is some element that it detects as a tracker, we should re-consider it, or use it differently so it isn't detected as a tracker ;-).

Checking the website on HTTP results in a pretty bad privacy grade `C+' by `DuckDuckGo'. This grade is a result of the following:

  • Having an encrypted connection to the website
  • Number of trackers found on the website
  • Status of the privacy practices

Having that said, visiting the website on HTTPS fixes the encryption issue and improves the grade up to a good `B+'.

This leaves us only with the unknown privacy practices issue to ace the privacy grade. `DuckDuckGo' retrieves privacy policies from the Terms of Service; Didn't Read project. So, if the website needs to ace the privacy grade, first it has to actually have a `terms of service' section.
