How do you see this bug without waiting to download a big file?

"dllink ed2k://|file|xxx|5555555555|b63d221505e99043b7e7308c67f81956|/" on windows adds the file to mldonkey and the temp file is 5 gigs on the filesystem (xp ntfs)

Maybe this can help:

http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/libgw32c.htm
If you want to use large file support (i.e. to replace the standard 32 bits msvcrt functions by 64 bits),
add the defines -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE=1 -D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE=1 -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64

http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/install.html
Large-file support

Packages newer than 1 April 2003, have been compiled with large-file support (LFS). These programs should be able to access files larger than 2 GB, up to 9 EB (exabyte) = 9,000,000 TB (terabyte) = 9,000,000,000 GB. If you never use files larger than 2 GB, there is no need to upgrade packages just because large-file support has been added. Note that the current MS-Windows implementation of file systems allow for maximum file sizes of 4 GB on FAT16, 128 GB on FAT32 and 16 TB = 16,000 GB on NTFS (there may be smaller maximum sizes for MS-Windows versions earlier than XP).
