Hello.

So how do you plan to use our services at Savannah?

You only want to mirror your project here and on SF.net - and that's a fact we don't allow at all.
No project on Savannah uses Savannah only for mirroring - that's the truth.

All in all, I think you don't need our services so I reject your project.

And now "Happy GNU year" and we wish you all the best.

Hi,
"Savannah should be your first choice. That's why we only support free software projects, which needs our services for the development. For example we provide CVS, GnuARCH support, mailinglists etc.pp for them."
In fact I'm not going to use any of theses development services (CVS, GnuARCH...) in the K3DSurf project(I'm not using them even in Sourceforge or other websites) and I'm not planing to begin to use them just to be cited in your website. So thanks for the time you've spent in reviewing this project. The source code will be present at this adress : http://k3dsurf.sourceforge.net/ .
You're free to accept or reject this project.

Regards.

NB: Are you sure that all projects in this website respects your policy of "Savannah should be your first choice" ?

Hi,

I am waiting for an answer from you.

If within one week I still do not get a reply, I will remove your project.
You will still be able to register it again once you have the time to deal with the registration issues.

Are you still willing to host your project at Savannah?
If not, please tell us - we don't bite, and it will make us gain time.

Regards.

Hello.

"I'll submit every new release to you but also to all other websites (Kde-apps.org, sourceforge.net and freashmeat)." -- that what we understand under the point "mirroring".

Savannah should be your first choice. That's why we only support free software projects, which needs our services for the development. For example we provide CVS, GnuARCH support, mailinglists etc.pp for them.

But we don't mirror only free software project, without the developing point.

Another point is:
"I'm submitting it to you because I want it to be 100% compatible with the GPL licence", you can check it yourself by reading the license or by reading the FAQ of this license.

"In order to release your project properly and unambiguously under the GPL,
please place copyright notices and permission-to-copy statements at the beginning of every file of source code.

In addition, if you haven't already, please include a copy of the plain text version of the GPL,
available from http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.txt, into a file named "COPYING".

For more information, see http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.html.

The GPL FAQ explains why these procedures must be followed.
To learn why a copy of the GPL must be included with every copy of the code, for example,
see http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#WhyMustIInclude."

So how do you plan to use Savannah exactly? Only for mirroring?

At second, you don't need to put a COPYING file into every sub-directory, one in / is enough.

But please include copyright+license notices into your XML files too (.ui*, .xpm).

For your .png files please put in their directories a README file and put there the copyright+license notices down. See also http://www.gnu.org/prep/maintain/html_node/Copyright-Notices.html for that.

Hi,
Thank you for evaluating the K3DSurf project.
I've made changes to source code related to Licence notices.
I don't want to use savannah website as a mirror for this project because I've already mirrors that do this job very well.
I'm submitting it to you because I want it to be 100% compatible with the GPL licence. I don't understand what do you mean with "Your project development should happen primary on Savannah".
I'll submit every new release to you but also to all other websites (Kde-apps.org, sourceforge.net and freashmeat). This project should never go so far without there help and services to promote opensource projects like K3DSurf so, right now, all my greating go to them.
You can find, attached to this file, the new source code with the corrected Licence notices.
It's also located here :
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/k3dsurf/k3dsurf-0.5.4-src.zip?download

Regards,
Abderrahman Taha

NB: I'm in the incapacity right now to compile the new source code (with the licence notices changed)so I'm making a new package "k3dsurf-0.5.4.zip". Thanks for your understanding

Hi,
I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

At first, Savannah is a central point for development, distribution and maintenance of GNU Software.

There is a companion site savannah.nongnu.org where we also host Free Software projects that are not part of the GNU Project, but run on free platforms.

However, we do not allow to host your project on Savannah and
SourceForge at the same time, if Savannah is just a project mirror.
Your project development should happen primary on Savannah.

How do you plan to use your Savannah account?

At second, your copyright statements "Copyright (C) 2005 by root" are INVALID. Please check out http://www.gnu.org/prep/maintain/html_node/Copyright-Notices.html

Then every file of source code should include copyright+license notices - src/newwindow*.

If some of your files cannot carry such notices (e.g. binary files or .jpg, .png), then you can add a README file in the same directory containing the copyright and license notices. Check
http://www.gnu.org/prep/maintain/html_node/Copyright-Notices.html for further information.

And last but not least, the address of the FSF has changed, and is now:

51 Franklin Street, Fifth Floor, Boston, MA  02110-1301  USA

Please update your license notices.

Updates versions of the GPL, LGPL and GFDL can also be found at:
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.txt
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl.txt
http://www.gnu.org/licenses/fdl.txt

Please update the copy of the license (usually, the 'COPYING' file) in your package as well.

You can find some background and a possible migration script at https://savannah.gnu.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=3766
