It was the cron job, and I just updated the web-update hook :)

Yeah, it all works now.

Either it was just a cron job, or you did something. ;x

Either way thanks for your efforts!

Sincerely,

Pol

Thanks Steven now I have full access to CVS's:

/sources/afg
(module afg is main)
/web/afg
(module afg is main)

But I have updated /web/afg and it's not being reflected on http://www.nongnu.org/afg/

It's still displaying the old /web/sil revision...

Maybe I just have to wait for the cron job, although SIL would usually update immediately after TortoiseCVS reported "Triggering webpages update...".

Maybe I need a cron job because it's the first new commit to the /web/afg cvs.

What do you think?

Hi,

Sorry about that, missed a config file edit. It's fixed now.

Cheers,

Steven

Cool but I'm still having CVS problems.  I can't seem to check anything out or make a new module or commit anything.  Also,  the homepage is still at sil.nongnu.org where I would rather have it be at afg.nongnu.org.

Maybe the system just needs to be updated, I'll wait a bit.

Hi,

We have completed the renaming of your project. I've set it as active, so that it's publicly accessible again.

Cheers,

Steven

Awesome, thanks for the info Stever!

And yeah, me not having any mailing lists really does kind of suck.

Obviously, the code-base for AFG is not mature enough to attract extra developer efforts, which is almost essential in order to reach any type of completion status level with a project as complex as this.

I'm hoping I can eventually at least get it to beta playable form with clean code and documentation so that any skilled programmers might be able to take interest and hack onto the project if they so choose.

I've actually just recently applied for domain registration of "afg.info" and "afg.net" through OpenDomain.org...

So if the domain registration is successfully transfered to the AFG project, then the official AFG developer portal URL would be http://AFG.Info/ redirected to http://afg.nongnu.org/

Fyi.

Hi,

There isn't really anything you can do to speed things up. I've already started with the migration.

The reason for it taking some time is that I need to confirm that the project migration script we have is correct, before I run it. I also have to check the new project is intact and complete, etc, before I can set it as active again.

We prefer not to delete projects, as this removes the CVS histories, etc. This also requires quite a bit of work to completely remove them.

To migrate a project we have to rename all of the repositories and other such things. This isn't difficult to do, but we have to make sure that everything has been renamed, or your project might end up missing something. We also have to alter various group entries.

Thankfully you don't have any mailing lists, as these are much more complicated to rename.

Cheers,

Steven

Is there anything I could say or do to help along with this process of progression?

Maybe something like...

If you completely close out the current 'sil' project and give me full access to 'afg', then I will be able to restore the project's site easily.  (I have full local backups of www/src code.)

You can even leave 'sil' open for the next person, I suppose.  Maybe someone else can have better use of it now.

Either way, this comment isn't meant to construe a festinate message, or call for hastiness.  I'm merely curious as to the internal steps involved with the action and whether or not any addition of commentary on my part is anticipated.

If so, here ya go.

If not, here I go!

;x

Ok.

This will take a little while to complete. This registration entry will be cancelled, as it conflicts with the system group name you want.

The sil project will be put into maintainance mode while we do the renaming. This means that you will not be able to access it.

You might get some system generated emails about all of this, as we do various things.

I'll reactivate the new project and close this tracker, once it's all complete.

Regards,

Steven

Yes Steven I would like the SIL project to be renamed to AFG.

(like access to afg.nongnu.org)... thanks.

Hi,

Are you simply asking for the SIL project to be renamed? Or is this a fork?

Please clarify what you'd like :)

Cheers,

Steven
