Hi Guerkan,

After getting the latest information from you there's nothing that keeps us from approving your project, which means that I have done so. You will receive an automated e-mail containing detailed information about the approval.

However, please keep in mind that we do not allow hosting of whole ISO images.

Regards,

Stephan

Hello

Okay there is no direct source code yet, there's just some makefiles and some changes in files made from within that makefile. that's it all, if you go ../repository/* you'll find modified debian source packages that are made to work w/ unionfs on the cd.

Plan is to write more software in Objective-C using GNUstep frameworks for this CD. Like a System Installer.app and more tools like that. I will probably host them outside this project since they are usable to others too, like i do with VolumeManager and DisplayCalibrator (which i wrote, and they are on this CD, but they have their own homepage). I just want to use this project page
for the cd creation documentation and bug tracking, and user sent patches/sources. The installer would be not so usable to others, but on this live cd, so that source will be inside this project, but nothing was written yet for it.

Yours,
Guerkan

Hi Guerkan,

I'm afraid I'm still unable to find the actual source code of your project. The only things I see on both the website and the tarball you submitted are configuration files. There seems to be no sign of the installation software you have mentioned.

Please provide me with pointers on where exactly the sourcecode of your project can be found (doesn't have to be an URL, this can be a hint on where in the tarball it is located too).

Regards,

Stephan

Stephan,

Yes I want to host this project at Savannah. As mentioned
before the source code is at http://gnu.ethz.ch/gnustep/

I have now created a source tarball which is here:
http://gnu.ethz.ch/gnustep/GNUSTEP-i486-1.0.tar.gz

I have made a public release of the GNUSTEP system,
version 1.0 two days ago. You can find that here:
http://livecd.gnustep.org

Yours,
Gürkan

Hi Guerkan,

I am waiting for an answer from you.

If within one week I still do not get a reply, I will remove your project. You will still be able to register it again once you have the time to deal with the registration issues.

Are you still willing to host your project at Savannah? If not, please tell us - we don't bite, and it will make us gain time.

Regards,

Stephan

Hi Guerkan,

Thanks for the clarification. Hosting such a project sounds okay, however, as I mentioned before, we still need to have a look at your code and it doesn't matter whether it's finished or not. Please see my previous comments for details.

Regards,

Stephan

Hello Stephan,

No that is not correct. I have moved some parts of the code outside that URL. This project does, and will have more code: Objective-C/Gorm software to install the system onto a harddisk. To configure main settings like keyboard, language and the like.

Actually there is already some code, for example: gnustep-settings, but it's not yet done properly with Obj-C/Gorm.

As mentioned earlier, I wanted this project hosted on savannah to be able so people can file bugs at some public ONE place. If it's complicated so much. I might rather stop trying to get it hosted here and do something myself (like I used to, keep the bugreports to myself only and work on it solely).

Yours,
Guerkan

Hi,

I've just had a look at the URL you provided us with and have noticed that the contents there look just like configuration files for another project.
Is this correct? Does your project contain configuration files only?

Regards,

Stephan

Ok I didn't build the tarball yet, but it will happen during two weeks. You can however find all the files and build tools here:

http://gnu.ethz.ch/gnustep/

Gürkan

Hi,

this sounds alright, however, we'd still need to have a look at your tarball/build scripts, if it is a ISO-building system you want to host here.

Please include an URL to a tarball containing the sources or alternatively use the task tracker to attach a file. See my first comment for details please.

Regards,

Stephan

I know that you don't host iso images. That is not what I am looking for. I want to allow others to see how I build the images, and to have a way to submit bug reports that are public. Likewise with patches.

Hi,

As mentioned in the registration pages, we do not host complete distros, distros isos, packages repositories, etc, for space and bandwidth reasons. We may just offer support for organisational purpose and dedicated software (such as iso creation scripts).

How do you plan to use the Savannah services?

If you plan to host such software:
Please include a (perhaps temporary) URL pointing to the source code. Alternatively, you can forward the code to me by email or attach it to this tracker.

We wish to review your source code, even if it is not functional, to catch potential legal issues early.

For example, to release your program properly under the GNU GPL you must include a copyright notice and permission-to-copy statements at the beginning of every  copyrightable file, usually any file more than 10 lines long.  This is explained in http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-howto.html.  Our review would help catch potential omissions such as these.

Note that sending code to our repositories is a release, since the code will then be publicly available through anonymous access.

To help us better keep track of your registration, please use the tracker's web interface following the link below. Do not reply directly, the registration process is not driven by e-mail, and we will not receive such replies.

Regards.
