Hi Marcus,

after re-evaluating your updated sourcecode nearly everything looks fine.

However, you should mark the files in both the rules and fiches folder as being in the public domain, as you seem to want exactly that. This way users can be sure that these things are Free Software/Free Content.

As the above is only a minor issue I have approved your project. You will receive an automated e-mail containing detailed information about the approval.

Regards,

Stephan

Many thanks for your efforts,

"First of all, you are missing both copyright and license headers in Lemming.java. Please add these to this file as well."

The file has been removed from the sources, it was only for testing purposes.

"Secondly, is the copyright holder refered to in the copyright notices, a legal entity that can be assigned copyright? If not, you need to add the author(s)' name(s) instead."

It is no legal entity (Lemming development team). I have changed it to the author's name.

The files in the folders rules and fiches are only for testing purposes. They don't need any copyright.

You can find our actual code here:

or rather here:

Hi Marcus,

I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah. While doing so I have noticed a few problems which are described below.

First of all, you are missing both copyright and license headers in Lemming.java. Please add these to this file as well.

Secondly, is the copyright holder refered to in the copyright notices, a legal entity that can be assigned copyright? If not, you need to add the author(s)' name(s) instead.

Check http://www.gnu.org/prep/maintain/html_node/Copyright-Notices.html for more information, and update your files.

If you are willing to make the changes mentioned above, please provide us with an URL to an updated tarball of your project. Upon review, we will reconsider your project for inclusion in Savannah.

To help us better keep track of your registration, please use the tracker's web interface following the link below. Do not reply directly, the registration process is not driven by e-mail, and we will not receive such replies.

Regards,

Stephan

REGISTRATION DETAILS

Full Name:
----------
 Lemming

System Group Name:
-----------------
 lemming

Type:
-----
 non-GNU software & documentation

License:
--------
GNU General Public License V2 or later

Description:
------------
The name of the project is 'Lemming' - Lemma Inventory Generator. It's
a rule-based lemmatiser (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemmatisation)
written in Java. At the moment we develop it to generate alternative
forms of lemmata in ancient french. But it can be used to lemmatise
words in any language.

You can find our actual code here:
http://www.cl.uni-heidelberg.de/~husar/lemming/

or rather here:
http://www.cl.uni-heidelberg.de/~husar/lemming.tar.gz

How does it work? We parse a XML file containing rules that say how to
transform a single character or multiple characters. Then a lemma is
entered to generate a lot of variations of this lemma. These
variations are matched against known lemmata to prove their
correctness.

For now we have implemented the generation of the variants of a
lemma. To come next we need a way to save known lemmata. To achieve
that we will implement an elementary database or the like. Then we
will develop the functionality mentioned above. Finally a graphical
user interface is built.

Thanks for your efforts.

Yours sincerely,
Marcus Husar

Other Software Required:
------------------------
 The dependencies are:
- GCJ (http://gcc.gnu.org/java/)
- GNU Classpath (http://www.gnu.org/software/classpath/)
- and their dependencies

Later we will use Swing, too. But that is no problem with GNU Classpath.

Optionally ant (http://ant.apache.org/) or find can be used to compile the programme. But they are not essential. Gij is used for running the programme as bytecode.
