Sorry, I didn't have an account before I did this bug report. I'm the submitter.

When it goes to scan for printers, I get this traceback:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/foomatic-gui", line 415, in on_druidpagestart1_next
self.update_printer_connections()
File "/usr/bin/foomatic-gui", line 431, in update_printer_connections
conns = detect.printer_connections(remote)
File "/usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/foomatic/detect.py", line 434, in printer_connections
conns += routine()

data = read_ieee1284_data(device)
File "/usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/foomatic/detect.py", line 106, in read_ieee1284_data
ret = fcntl.ioctl(fd, LPIOC_GET_DEVICE_ID(len(devstr)), devstr)
IOError: [Errno 22] Invalid argument

I've used this printer with i386 computers and foomatic-gui before. I also see that http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=249113 shows a bug on ia64 arcitecture that looks similar to my problem. I'm guessing it's an IOCTL issue, but I have no clue. I tried to fix it on my own but I still get an invalid argument bailout. Thanks in advance.
