I attached a patch, please apply it, run autoconf in ./config directory and retry configure without exporting $CC.

I have the same problem as the bug submitter on 10.3.7 w/ the default Xcode install.

Ideas? (the export CC=cc) trick works, but shouldnt the original configure script work ?

I donwloaded the latest tar.gz from savannah.
When trying to configure befor compiling I get the following :
creating cache ./config.cache
Arguments:

checking host system type... powerpc-apple-darwin7.7.0
checking for gcc3... gcc3
checking for gcc... (cached) gcc3
checking whether the C compiler (gcc3 ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler cannot create executables.

I'm compiling Camino without any problem on this machine.
make debug_info does not work either.

in config/config.log I have the following:
This file contains any messages produced by compilers while
running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.

configure:828: checking host system type
configure:851: checking for gcc3
configure:880: checking for gcc
configure:993: checking whether the C compiler (gcc3 ) works
configure:1009: gcc3 -o conftest conftest.c 1>&5
ld: can't locate file for: -lcrtbegin.o
configure: failed program was:

#line 1004 "configure"
#include "confdefs.h"

main(){return(0);}

I've compiled this software correctly before on mac os 10.2.8?
