Due to the use of AC_FUNC_MALLOC and AC_FUNC_REALLOC, the configure script cannot check for malloc/realloc functions compatible with the GNU library (since it needs to execute comiled programs). Thus the compilation failed with rpl_malloc and rpl_realloc being undefined.

Either remove both macros or write rpl_malloc/rpl_realloc
