DVD burner is a Pioneer DVR-109 with the current 1.17 firmware. I've tried multiple disks and the CD-R burn speed never exceeds 4x. Thought it might be a media problem, so I tried Nero on XP using my dual boot. Nero-Win burned the same media on the same burner at 40x. Downloaded NeroLINUX (don't like it, BTW...graveman! is much nicer) and tried to burn the same files. NeroLINUX burned them at 40x. So, not a media problem (is FujiFilm, Taiyo Yuden is the manufactuer).
A couple of things I see in the debug data:
1) Seems like the buffer is being picked up as 64512. Nero, on both Linux and Win, picks up as 2MB. hdparm also picks up the buffer the same as graveman.
[root@localhost ~]# hdparm -i /dev/hdc
/dev/hdc:

Drive conforms to: device does not report version:

2) It appears that BURN-Free is not active during the burn. Why? Should a checkbox (defaulted to "ON") be added for BURN-Free?
3) And, of course, that the burner is set to a 4x burn speed. Seems like graveman is setting the burn speed for the CD-R to the max burn speed for a Dual-Layer DVD (although, the max DVD burn speed for a DL disk on this burner is supposed to be 6x).
Any more info you need Sylvain, please let me know.

Feature request: the data appears to show that graveman is able to pick up and determine the type and manufactuer of media. This is a nice feature in NeroTools on XP and somewhat implemented in NeroLINUX (no manufactuer listed).
