Syntax of n command according to longhelp is

n <ip> [<port>]

so no ":" possible.

With Spiralvoice's 2.5.30c (self compiled for 686 on Debian testing):

When I add a server using the web interface's command input box, if I type:

n 111.222.111.222:1234

the server list contains a blank entry for that IP and the connection to the server is not mad.

If I type:

n 111.222.111.222 1234

the connection to the server is made and it works fine.
