Tested and confirmed this defect is fixed; the behavior is no longer observed with lmi-20130719T1951Z.

This was a wx bug: what happened was that the window initial size was set to the full screen and so when Windows had to restore it, it simply couldn't choose any good position for it as it had to keep the (huge) initial size.

Now (as of 2006-07-01, rev. 1.143 of src/msw/toplevel.cpp) we don't set the size of the window to the full screen any more, but just set its pending size so that layout calculations still are correct but Windows has the correct initial window size and so restores it as expected.

Using wx cvs HEAD as of 2006-06-05, the behavior is different.
Now, the main window appears to retain its size as at startup,
but it is moved so that its upper-left corner is approximately
in the center of the screen. Wouldn't it be better, for example,
to reduce its dimensions by half, and move it to any position
where it will fit entirely on the screen?

By default the system is launched with the main application window maximized. When the window is restored, by pressing the restore button in the upper right-hand corner, the application is restored to only a small portion of the title bar. The main window width and height setting should be large enough to display the MDI frame.
