I have the same problem with a NEC CD/DVD burner and a CD-RW, even if the CD-RW is not mounted, on a Debian 0.3.12-4-2.1, Kernel 2.6.14.3. Graveman always says "no media".

% cdrdao disk-info --device /dev/hdc
Cdrdao version 1.1.9 - (C) Andreas Mueller <andreas@daneb.de>
SCSI interface library - (C) Joerg Schilling
Paranoia DAE library - (C) Monty

Check http://cdrdao.sourceforge.net/drives.html#dt for current driver tables.

Using libscg version 'schily-0.8'

/dev/hdc: _NEC DVD_RW ND-3540A  Rev: 1.01
Using driver: Generic SCSI-3/MMC - Version 2.0 (options 0x0000)

That data below may not reflect the real status of the inserted medium
if a simulation run was performed before. Reload the medium in this case.

CD-RW                : yes
Total Capacity       : n/a
CD-R medium          : Plasmon Data systems Ltd.
                       Long Strategy Type, e.g. Cyanine
Recording Speed      : 0X - 4X
CD-R empty           : no
Toc Type             : CD-DA or CD-ROM
Sessions             : 1
Last Track           : 1
Appendable           : no

Seems this only happens to me under 2 conditions:
1) The cdrw you are blanking is mounted.
2) The cdrw is already blanked.

Would be nice to get an error indicating either condition.

Hi,

Can you type "cdrdao disk-info --device /dev/hda" command when
your CD-R is in the drive and send me the output (replace
/dev/hda with your real device) ?

Thanks,
Sylvain

Fedora Core 3
Linux 2.6.10
graveman-0.3.10.tar.bz2

Philips CDRW48A Removable CD-ROM correctly found.
Trying to erase a CD/RW disc I get a message telling me (sorry, I use IT language so I don't know the english err msg) to 'insert a CDR/RW in the drive ...) as much the same as if there were no CDRW inserted at all.

Using Nautilus-record I had this Philips CDRW working properly.

The problem repeats always the same.
