I can verify this. I have set up a bi-hourly cronjob on the 24/7 server where I track the openembedded.org sources (otherwise I could not keep up and a pull would probably take ages). I will usually do another pull and an update just before I start to compile with OE. Sometimes these processes will of course overlap and then monotone crashes in the way described by David.

In one terminal window I'm currently pulling the monotone head branch off of off.net. It is currently verifying new revisions. I decided I wanted to check what branches were in the database, so I ran `monotone --db PATH/TO/DB/monotone.db list branches`

The error received was:
monotone: discarding debug log
monotone: fatal: std::runtime_error: failure extracting schema from sqlite_master
monotone: this is almost certainly a bug in monotone.
monotone: please send this error message, the output of 'monotone --full-version',
monotone: and a description of what you were doing to monotone-devel@nongnu.org.
