I am providing static binaries for certain projects (FLI4L, EISFAIR) who need them, so this is not an option.

perhaps we should stop providing static binaries, as for various things the dynamic glibc is allways needed.

Please try compiling the core yourself, it seems the binary
is incompatible to your system.

I switched to 2.5.30-5 today. after mlnet started. I logged in by telnet. and type "vd". then it crashed. I did it twice and it's all the same.
There is a line I found in the log file:
mlnet: gconv.c:58: __gconv: Assertion `outbuf != ((void *)0) &&
outbuf != ((void )0)' failed.

I have some weird filename in my list. (because of the uncompatible with unicode) I don't know if these chars cause it.
