Should also explain how mirroring is different from just doing an scp (or rsync) of an archive. Why would you prefer one approach over the other?

Right up front, it should clearly state that mirroring can be used to push from local to remote, or pull from remote to local. It should also briefly describe the concept:

A mirror of an archive shares the same name as the original, but it is NOT merely a copy. ArX tracks special information in mirrors, and knows that a mirror is a mirror.

Hopefully you can think of better wording than that.
