fixed after 2.02-25 (every minute, the excess of sources is purged)

Same problem for me with 1.99 beta+5 on a pentium 133 / 64 MB box.
max_sources_per_file 256
max_open_connections 384

Downloading 3 popular files, over 10000 sources per file.
100% cpu-usage and minimal download

Source-management seems to eat up all cpu.
Memory-management great in this release
