We don't even have an internal timer anymore. I am under the impression that such a feature, while convenient, is somewhat redundant to other timing methods available in the shell and whatnot for when knowing the length of time of a run is important.

During longer runs, the internal timer does not return accurate results. On occasion, the results are accurate, however they are negative. During short runs [lengths of a few minutes] the results are accurate though.
