Another possibility would be to discard all data regarding that file from files.ini, but this data would be lost in the future.
An EDK only core can´t read BT specific data, nor save it to files.ini.

MLDonkey can´t parse files from networks for which no support is compiled in the core as there is network specific data the common modules does know nothing about, or as pango puts it:
"[2005-09-17 16:09] <pango_> the metadata is probably network depend too, so it will be difficult to parse it without that support
[2005-09-17 16:10] <pango_> it may be difficult to do something about it with the current parser... it's almost a "don't do that then" problem"

The attached patch prints a clearer error message and exits MLDonkey properly, so no mlnet.pid is left behind.

Yes you`re right - that's exactly the reason.
Just created mldonkey with ED+BT+FT support and added 3 downloads (ED+BT+FT) then created single ED mldonkey and on same config files got error mentioned above.

I suppose you started downloads on a network which the current
core has no support for. Could you please tell me the name of that
network in your case so I can easier debug it?

In some cases, when you play with disabling plugins at compile time, running mlnet gives

debian:~/1# ./mlnet

2005/08/24 18:23:47 Language EN, locale ISO-8859-1
2005/08/24 18:23:47 MLDonkey is working in /root/.mldonkey

Exception: Not_found while handling option:files
