Hmm, I can not reproduce it with debootstrap_0.3.3 and

| vserver test2 build -m debootstrap --hostname foo.bar -- -d sarge
| echo plain >/etc/vservers/test2/apps/init/style

on a Fedora Core 4 host.

Exim configuration is the place where the real hostname appears, but 'hostname' shows always 'foo.bar'.

Please reopen, when you have more details.

Bertl said I should submit a bug for this issue so here goes:

I have a host running debian sarge (hostname: ford). I created a guest using debootstrap (vserver test2 build -m debootstrap --hostname dns2.domain.com --netdev eth1 --interface 192.168.1.1/29 -- -d sarge -m ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian).

When the the vservers apps/init/style is set to sysv, and I run vserver test2 enter, the hostname would change to the correct value (dns2). When I changed the apps/init/style to plain, and I run vserver test2 enter, the hostname stays the same as the host (ford).

I am able to change the hostname using the `hostname` command, and also by editing the /etc/hostname file on the guest, and it is persistant through stops and starts, it just seems to be that initial setup.
