Thanks for the report, but this problem isn't directly related
to FreeType -- it appears to be a libtool bug on the AIX platform.
Looking into the current CVS version of libtool, I still see
option -b used.

Please file a bug report to the libtool people, using the
address -unavailable-

I believe the option wanted was -B not -b

Options starting with -g, -f, -m, -O, -W, or --param are automatically
passed on to the various sub-processes invoked by gcc. In order to pass
other options on to these processes the -W<letter> options must be used.
