Actually "gmake maintainerclean" is the best way to reset the
source code to its original state. But you will find that after
"./configure --enable-gui=newgui1" a maintainerclean will remove
too much files so compiling GTK1 newgui1 again will fail. This is
the only place this happens, otherwise maintainerclean works well.

So the safest way, which I am using here myself, is to have a
clean CVS checkout and copy this dir somewhere else for
patching/compiling.

Actually, you are right, that works.
I had overlooked that configure starts a depends run.
So for updating after a CVS update, you recommend "gmake clean; ./configure ...; gmake"?
Feel free to close this bug report.

As to your other question:
Packages for the last stable pkgsrc branch are currently in
ftp://ftp.NetBSD.org/pub/NetBSD/packages/pkgsrc-2005Q3/NetBSD-2.0/i386

The new branch 2005Q4 should be out soon, you can probably guess where the new packages will appear then :)

Please try the following:
check-out CVS into a clean dir
./configure + options
gmake

no gmake clean after configure, gmake clean removes svg_converter.byte and other vital stuff created by make depend.

Does it work?

Another thing: I just tried for one hour to install x11 stuff on
NetBSD 2.0.2, can you give me a hint how to install it without
compiling it myself? I could not find the correct pkg_add addresses.

svg_converter.byte

No, not doing 'gmake clean' does not help. On a fresh checkout it's a noop anyway.

Does it work if you don“t use "gmake clean" before gmake?

I'm tracking the mldonkey CVS version; I did a fresh checkout (removing any non-CVS files five minutes ago).
It doesn't compile for me.

The cpmmands I use are:
CFLAGS=-I/usr/X11R6/include LDFLAGS="-L/usr/X11R6/lib -Wl,-R/usr/X11R6/lib" ./configure --enable-pthread-lib --enable-gui=newgui2
gmake clean
gmake

The first problem I encounter is:
cp icons/rsvg/splash_screen.svg icons/rsvg/splash_screen.ml_icons
./svg_converter.byte icons/rsvg/splash_screen.ml_icons
gmake: ./svg_converter.byte: Command not found
gmake: *** [icons/rsvg/splash_screen.ml_icons] Error 127

It seems there is a dependency missing from the .ml_icons file on svg_converter_byte.

If I do
gmake svg_converter.byte
gmake

then compilation continues until:

Converting file icons/rsvg/emoticon_wink.ml_icons
ocamlopt.opt -inline 10 -I src/utils/cdk -I src/daemon/chat -I src/gtk2/chat -I src/utils/lib -I src/utils/ocamlrss -I src/utils/xml-light -I src/utils/net -I tools -I src/daemon/common -I src/daemon/driver -I src/utils/mp3tagui -I src/config/unix -I src/gtk2/gui -I src/gtk2/gui/x11 -I src/gtk2/gui/win32 -I icons/rsvg -I +lablgtk2 -I src/im -I src/im/yahoo -I src/im/irc -I src/gtk2/im -I src/networks/gnutella -I src/networks/gnutella2 -I src/networks/fasttrack -I src/networks/fileTP -I src/networks/bittorrent -I src/networks/donkey -c icons/rsvg/splash_screen_svg.ml
I/O error: icons/rsvg/splash_screen_svg.ml: No such file or directory

I'm not sure how to create that file.

Please fix, thank you.
