David <davidg> |
Mon 04 Sep 2006 03:25:44 AM UTC, comment #44: well, I downgraded to Fedora Core 4 as this has an older version of GLIBC and I have a very similar issue. SMSD doesn't crash but it does seem to loose connection to the phone and restarts connection for every single SMS that it receives. I have copied a log below. I had only send two SMS messages in the following example as a test.

Thu 23 Feb 2006 02:26:02 AM UTC, comment #28: in regards to my pervious comment/posting... I restarted the phone and still had the same problems, but restarting the SMSD service fixed it... until it happens again in the next day or so!

Thu 23 Feb 2006 02:18:05 AM UTC, comment #27: Ive created a script to restart SMSD if it dies, but I still get duplicate messages after it has been on for a day or so.. I've disconnected the phone, made sure that I sent 1 sms and the phone has 1 sms in the memory.. connected it to gnokii and it put two records of the same sms in but generally seconds apart.

Tue 07 Feb 2006 11:25:49 PM UTC, comment #20: Could the patch issue be that fbusinit();busterminate(); are being used to restart the connection rather than - gn_sm_functions amd gn_gsm_initialise?

Mon 06 Feb 2006 11:00:00 PM UTC, comment #19: I did notice that the phoen had a weak signal this morning - but if the signal is weak - why would SMSD die? |
David <davidg> |
Mon 06 Feb 2006 10:54:53 PM UTC, comment #18: We had tried to send a large group of SMS messages out last night on the un-patched version and then SMSD eventually died and this is what was in the error log:

Sun 05 Feb 2006 11:53:34 AM UTC, comment #16: Restarting connection was the answer for the problem of loosing the communication. Your problems seems to be completly different at the moment. That\'s why I need debug log to diagnose the problem.

Pawel Kot <pkot> |
Sun 05 Feb 2006 07:05:09 AM UTC, comment #15: That's correct, SMSD is not receiving any received SMS messages that are on the phone. Is "restarting the connection" the answer to our problem though? |
David <davidg> |
Sat 04 Feb 2006 09:26:48 PM UTC, comment #14: David, can I have the debug log from the current version? As far as I understand the problem at the moment is that you SMSD doesn\'t read the received sms from the phone. Is that correct?

Sat 04 Feb 2006 09:12:34 PM UTC, comment #13: I think that something is wrong in low level communication, but I don't understand it. Pawel, do you have any idea how to fix it? |

Sun 29 Jan 2006 10:15:42 PM UTC, comment #11: After applying this patch, I'm not getting the segment fault but I'm also not getting ANY sms messages at all. So I wouldn't be able to say whether this patch has helped any. |

Sun 29 Jan 2006 10:14:18 PM UTC, comment #10: This problem occurs when using the driver and also in AT mode. |

Sun 29 Jan 2006 09:42:55 PM UTC, comment #9: If I understand right, more in this case doesn't break anything. But it looks that it doesn't help with lost synchronization.

Thu 26 Jan 2006 07:58:40 AM UTC, comment #8: That\'s actually more than needed. These functions take care of locking, fbusinit() reads config file, etc. What you need in fact is to:

Tue 24 Jan 2006 11:51:27 PM UTC, comment #4: I had the wrong config in my gnokii config and had it still in AT mode. Changed my settings back and restarted the PC, then smsd received messages OK, but didn't send out any. Cleared all my tables, restarted the PC again and the same thing.

Tue 24 Jan 2006 04:27:50 AM UTC, comment #3: I have setup a test server and installed a fresh copy of Gnokii+SMSD. I manually copied the differences into the lowlevel.c file as I couldn't apply the patch (mostly due to inexperience).

Mon 23 Jan 2006 11:00:21 PM UTC, comment #2: Can someone please help me applying this patch and using gdb. I made have made an attempt and it failed (refer to screenshot).
