Please test patch #4917

"and as soon as a chunk in the end of that file starts downloading, the file immidiately becomes as large as the last non-empty chunk is available."

This sounds weird, a sparse file should only occupy filled space.

mldonkey crashes when a new E-donkey download started (say, a 700MB file), but after a while the free diskspace for /temp went low (say 100MB) significantly below the size of that download.

it was crashing constantly after restart until i freed some space (several GB), and no suspicious records were found in the logfile. as soon as i freed some space, it runs smoothly

as far as i see, when a download start, mldonkey creates 0-filled file of needed size, but on the filesystem that file does not occupy any space. and as soon as a chunk in the end of that file starts downloading, the file immidiately becomes as large as the last non-empty chunk is available.
i use reiserfs on SuSE linux 10 system.
