Fri 10 Feb 2006 11:19:15 PM UTC, original submission:

When I run graveman as an unpriviledged user, everything works normally up until it starts writing (after "converting data").

When I tried again as root, everything worked.

I found out that having write permission to the CD is not enough, since cdrecord needs root priviledges to guarantee itself real-time access to data. Apparently it is common to install cdrecord setuid root.

So I think it would be helpful to give an error message in the case that both
(1) the user is non-priviledged, and
(2) cdrecord is not setuid root.

Thanks!
