Closing for lack of feedback -- please reopen or submit a new bug if you can provide additional information on building G-Wrap on OS X.

Does this still happen with the latest release (1.9.11 at the time of writing)? I don't have an OS X box at hand for testing...

I have the same problem. I had previously succeeded in compiling g-wrap 1.9.6 using fink for all dependencies. I've switched to darwinports for dependencies, and get the error listed here (trying to build g-wrap from the same source directory after a make distclean...).

A bit more investigative work: On 10.3.9 g-wrap fails, but with a different error:

<unnamed port>: In procedure process-define-module in expression (process-define-module (list # # ...)):
<unnamed port>: no code for module (srfi srfi-34)
ABORT: (misc-error)

Oops, apologies -- it is present in the top-level dist dir. However, running this module definition through guile results in the same:

ERROR: Stack overflow
ABORT: (stack-overflow)

Note that (define-module (g-wrap)...) is not present in any of the source files.

When compiling g-wrap 1.9.6 compilation fails with stack overflow reported by guile:

(cd .libs && rm -f libgwrap-guile-runtime.la && ln -s ../libgwrap-guile-runtime.la libgwrap-guile-runtime.la)
Making all in gw
guile -c \
"(set! %load-path (append '(\"../../../guile\" \"../../../guile\" \"../../..\" \"../../../lib\") %load-path))""(use-modules (g-wrap)) \
(use-modules (g-wrap guile)) \
(use-modules (g-wrap guile ws standard)) \
(generate-wrapset 'guile 'standard \"standard\")"
<unnamed port>: In expression (quote shift):
<unnamed port>: Stack overflow
make[4]: *** [standard.c] Error 2
make[3]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make: *** [all] Error 2

Manual execution of the above guile code results in the same condition:

% guile
guile> (set! %load-path (append '("../../../guile" "../../../guile" "../../.." "../../../lib") %load-path))
guile> %load-path
("../../../guile" "../../../guile" "../../.." "../../../lib" "/opt/local/share/guile/site" "/opt/local/share/guile/1.6" "/opt/local/share/guile" ".")
guile> (use-modules (g-wrap))
ERROR: Stack overflow
ABORT: (stack-overflow)
guile> (quit)
