Yes, this was fixed by the "heights" work.

I've just stumbled into the same problem with 0.31 (Debian). Right after a pull and update, I tried to see the changelog for Monotone itself, in a working copy of net.venge.monotone, and noticed that the first (top-most) entries were a month old. To illustrate the problem, I then took two different replicas of the Monotone database and did "mtn log | grep ^Tag:" on both; I got:

Tag: monotone-0.31
Tag: monotone-0.30
Tag: monotone-0.28
Tag: monotone-0.29
Tag: monotone-0.26
Tag: monotone-0.26pre3
Tag: monotone-0.27
Tag: monotone-0.24
Tag: monotone-0.26pre2
Tag: monotone-0.22
Tag: monotone-0.20
Tag: monotone-0.26pre1
Tag: monotone-0.23
Tag: monotone-0.25
Tag: monotone-0.21
Tag: monotone-0.18
Tag: monotone-0.19
Tag: popt-1.7
Tag: monotone-0.17
Tag: monotone-0.15
Tag: monotone-0.16
Tag: monotone-0.13
Tag: monotone-0.14
Tag: monotone-0.12
Tag: monotone-0.11
Tag: monotone-0.10
Tag: 0.5-release

I tried this with 3 different databases, some migrated from the 0.26 schema and some created afresh with the 0.30 schema. All gave the same, wrong ordering.
