hostname we are asking is only a prefix to all node names.

I recommend this way. Assuming node name prefix is "node"

node1 (alias master-node)
node2
node3
...

did you mean if hostname was "node" then slaves should be node1 node2 node3 .. nad master is master-node, that way if hostname is "box" then slaves should have been box1 box2 box3 and master should have been master-box ?? if you thought so, we did not design it like that.

Ab comments please, I think it is ok for master-node to be constant.

When finish the installation, master node always named himself "master-node" even if the user change the name in the configuration.
