Ok, that makes sense. I thought you could use ../../some/where for files outside of the audiosources dir. But the current method is probably more robust since the files are still found when the location of the project changes.

Yeah, on the one hand indeed, would be simpler.

But it also means you can't use audiofiles outside your project audiosources dir, which can be done right now!

It's a sane way to do it for now, at least as a "bug fix" for 0.30.1

It'll eventually change for 0.40.0, but well, this works, no?
If I would "properly" implement it, I possibly could introduce new bugs, and this was a one liner change.

Now you can move your project directories freely around, and use audiofiles outside the project dir ;-)

It works, but the file names are still saved with absolute paths in the project file. Wouldn't it be easier (or at least the obvious solution) to use relative paths?

I've commited a "fix" in cvs.

It checks if the audiofile is in our project audiosources dir, and gives it priority above the dir as given from the project.traverso file!

Please test!

Ah, I see what you mean now!

Didn't realize the problem, should be easy to solve though.

There is however one problem, and that's related to audiofiles outsite the project dir....

On the other hand, if first the project dir is checked for the file, then the dir supplied in project.traverso, and then continue (with perhaps a warning the audiosource couldn't be found).
The "hanging" behaviour right now is ugly ;-)

Will see if I can add this for 0.30.0 since I have to fix the "hang" problem anyway.

Thanks.

My project file looks like this:

<AudioSources>
<Source [...] dir="/home/nic/traverso-projects/Test-Stereo/audiosources" id="[...]" name="vox2-mic-B.wav" bitdepth="16" />
<Source [...] dir="/home/nic/traverso-projects/Test-Stereo/audiosources" id="[...]" name="01 maximise mp3.wav" bitdepth="16" />
</AudioSources>

(some parts snipped)
The project file itself is stored in "/home/nic/traverso-projects/Test-Stereo". If it would look for the audio sources in "audiosources" rather than in "/home/nic/.../audiosources", one could have the entire project on an external harddisk and work on different computers, regardless of where the HD is mounted (e.g. "/media/external" on one PC, "/mnt/sda1" on the other).

Hmm, I thought they are?

Sharing projects...

What do you have in mind here exactly?

Using relative file paths to audio clips in project files would allow to share entire projects more easily.
