Closing this bug now, the symptom of the bug is a feature :-)

However, it would indeed be very nice to make the AudioSources manager functional again!
Although not too hard, I don't like to add it for 0.30.0, cause it could potentially introduce new bugs!
(Like deleting your freshly recorded audio, which is bad heh)

bug 16917 has been fixed!

The functionality you describe makes sense. I just noticed that some orphaned references pointing to deleted audio sources accumulated in the project file (which caused freezes, see bug #16917). But if the handling is more robust, and if the audio sources can be managed in the GUI, it's ok.

Maybe you could check if the linked audio sources still exist when a project is loaded. If something is missing but is still used in the project, ask the user to specify the file in a file dialog. If it's not used anymore, just forget about it.

I'm not completely sure what you mean here.

A project file has an "AudioSources" section. All the in use or used audiofiles are placed here.
So if you removed an AudioClip (Region as it is called in other programs) the audiosources are still there.

The Audio Sources Manager view (currently non functional) will list all these audiosources, and if they are still used or not, giving you the option to remove them from your harddisk.
(or in the future to no longer list them in the project audio sources library)

If this is what you meant, please let me know if this makes sense to you, and what behaviour would be preferred!

Audio clips, which were deleted from the track view, still have a reference in the project file. If the audio file was moved / deleted from the HD, the app freezes upon startup (see bug #16917).
