Thanks!

That's why one of the core pieces of monotone's data model is "arbitrary pieces of metadata that can be attached to a revision by third-parties after the fact" :-). Seriously, the kind of thing you're describing was one of the things that originally motivated monotone's existence, and why "certs" work the way they do.

Monotone doesn't have much built-in knowledge of particular workflows, things like the names "test" vs. "sqa" and what states your group uses (though see the "testresult" cert) -- probably a feature, not a bug, in that there are very different workflows used by different groups. But it should have all the pieces you need to set up such a workflow with a little scripting glue, and we'd be very very interested to hear about it. (One of those things where it's hard to improve the tool for use X unless people attempt X and give us feedback based on their experiences.)

I'm working with a centralized SCM tool Change Synergy. I was quite pleased with a revision state feature.

Each commit has different states like integrate, test, sqa -> with meanings development done, test in progress, approaved code. There are more states, but I'm not an expert in here.

I believe that something like this would be a nice feature for monotone. It's a good question what states should be available and what should be the most convenient behaviour (e.g. if you check out from change synergy, you'll get the latest object in test, or sqa state, but not integrate state). Maybe the states could be configurable via hook functions...

Such thing could make monotone really sexy tool for companies with some quality standards.
