Does this still occurs? Many issues have been fixed since then.

Please, can you rerun after setting G_DEBUG="fatal_criticals" and provide a stack trace using either gdb or bug-buddy?
This should be easy to fix, but I just can't as long as I xcan't reproduce myself. The versions of glib and gtk+ you are using might help too.

Thu 12 Oct 2006 04:03:20 AM UTC, original submission:

With openbabel cvs, gchemutils cvs, chemical-mime-data and goffice cvs I get this with gchempaint-0.7.4:

gchempaint-unstable

(process:12724): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: gtype.c:2240: initialization assertion failed, use IA__g_type_init() prior to this function

(process:12724): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_new: assertion `G_TYPE_IS_OBJECT (object_type)' failed

(process:12724): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_ref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed
Segmentation fault

I'm not going backwards to find every correct version of a program that will work with gchempaint-0.6.6 because I am certain it wouldn't work.
