Hey! Here's Jürgen again. I just made the test on SUSE 10.2 and there appears still the same problem. Hope that helps

Hi Joachim,
I posted the original message. We've 10.2 servers running in my company, but I'm in holiday until 2nd Mai. I'll try to reproduce the error with openSUSE 10.2 and post you my results as soon as possible.the issue

Hi jhyslop,

Question:

>So if I ask the server for the stored modules it respond with >the correct content - but returns with "Terminated with fatal >signal 11" - "Fehler, CVS-Vorgang fehlgeschlagen" (In English - >my translation, not the real errormessage from the Englisch >Version: Error, CVS-Progress failed).
>If I made a dowgrade to the earlier Version 1.12.11-4 on the >new 10.1-Server it works fine again.

Your reply:

>Signal 11 usually indicates the server is out of virtual memory.

Status: Wont Fix!

I think one should investigate a bit further into this subject.
I´m having the very same effect when switching to CVS 1.12.12
(on Suse 10.1). This is not a problem of running out of virtual memory, as the load is minimal on the server (512MB) and it also happens with ridiculously small test repositories.

Maybe it´s a problem with the SusE installation/configuration, could not try SuSE 10.2 yet.

Signal 11 usually indicates the server is out of virtual memory. Please refer to the Troubleshooting section of the manual (http://ximbiot.com/cvs/manual/cvs-1.12.13/cvs_21.html#SEC210) for some hints on how to resolve this.

We're using a SUSE LINUX 9.3 Server with the distributed CVS-Version 1.12.11-4. Now I tried to copy the repository to a newer SUSE LINUX 10.1 Server with ditto the distributed Version. In this case V. 1.12.12-19. So if I ask the server for the stored modules it respond with the correct content - but returns with "Terminated with fatal signal 11" - "Fehler, CVS-Vorgang fehlgeschlagen" (In English - my translation, not the real errormessage from the Englisch Version: Error, CVS-Progress failed).
If I made a dowgrade to the earlier Version 1.12.11-4 on the new 10.1-Server it works fine again.
