I know that it is a GNOME application. This is stated clearly on the project homepage, however it is also mentioned that: "Mail Notification can also be used with KDE, Xfce and other environments". My suggestion here is just something that would help this application to work better for KDE (and I suppose other non-gnome environments).

The only reason I even took the time to make the suggestion, is that Mail Notification is the BEST email checking application I've ever come across. I've used it for a while now, and after recently upgrading to 3.0, am discouraged that I no longer have ANY way of indicating the mail application to start when I click the tray icon (short of installing the GNOME desktop and control center)... In previous versions I could simply enter the application desired...

Best Regards-
Nathan Hill

Being a GNOME application, it uses the mail reader configured in GNOME. You can configure it with the gnome-default-applications-properties program, which is part of gnome-control-center.

I've been using this app successfully in KDE, just installed a newer version (3.0). Many improvements, but now I'm no longer able to specify the command used to starts the mail application.

I want it to start KMAIL, (which is set as my default resource for mail in KDE), but nothing seems to launch when I press 'Mail Reader' button on the tray icon's context menu...

Sincerely- Nathan Hill
