could you go hassle the librsync guys to make a new release? maybe if more folks ask it would help.

Can this at least be documented in a FAQ somewhere or something? While the problem may be in librsync the end result is the same: a rather significant limitation in a backup program.

yes, this is a librsync problem. it's fixed in librsync cvs. it's not an rdiff-backup problem.

rdiff-backup can't seem to backup files larger than 4GB (though I haven't verified myself that this is the actual limit. I have a file that's around 6.8GB and rdiff-backup reports the following error:

python: ERROR: (rs_job_iter) internal error: job made no progress [orig_in=1, orig_out=65536, final_in=1, final_out=65536]
UpdateError MyFileName.file librsync error 107 while in patch cycle

Similar errors have been reported by others to the mailing list. Someone commented that this is a problem with the librsync library used by rdiff-backup.
