Could be indeed seen as feature. But this also open the door to 'proxy hopping': consider a core network with two firewalls to to two different networks. Furthermore you have a number of FTP servers in your core net enabling server selection on the proxies running on the network boundariers. Now, instead of using `user@ftp1.corenet' a user could give `user@server.in.othernet@other-firewall' as username to FTP into the other network through the core net. Because of this I would make this a configurable command line switch.

I had to make one small change to the code, which you might be interested in including in a later release - where you split user@host using strchr, I changed this to strrchr. The reason being that there is one ftp server that I use which has a username user@host, so I was logging into your server as user@host1@host2 and your server was interpreting host1@host2 as the hostname. I changed this to strrchr and it works fine...
