This is far too generic. We need more details.

Which FreeType version, which font? And can you
repeat the problem with FreeType's `ftview' program?
The culprit could be somewhere else?

There are known problems with umlaut dots, and the
results should be better using the CVS version of
FreeType.

hello

i use typo3 4.0.2 with graphics magick 1.1.6 and freetype (i think it must be a version 2.x, i must ask my isp).

it works fine with truetype ttf-fonts.
buth with opentype otf-fonts german umlauts would not rendered correctly!
instead an umlaut like รค there is only a box crossed with two lines.

is it a bug of freetype, or do i have not the newest version installed on my server?
or is it another program in this constellation?
