Latest CVS has the detection of dbm in configure completely reworked (the 1.2 release screwed this up for the BSDs and unfortunately we didn't ever do a 1.2.1 which fixed it).

If you can try with head of CVS and check that that worked that would be cool. I'm going to close this bug on the assumption that it is in fact fixed -- we should use ndbm.h as it's first on the list of things we try.

It's preferable to use ndbm.h rather than db.h under FreeBSD 6.1-RELEASE because the latter does not define a datum typedef which causes slocal.c to fail to compile. I'm not sure if this is ok for other platforms (it probably is). But to be safe my patch only checks for ndbm.h under FreeBSD.
