I had the same problem on gentoo
reemerging x11-themes/hicolor-icon-theme has solved the problem

Well, I solved the problem.
This error was caused by a misinstalled hicolor theme package...!
I simply reinstalled it, and it's been my key to enter the fabulous world of perlpanel... ;)
Thanks for the inconvenience

I just installed perlpanel 0.9.1 on Archlinux, but when I start it, here's what it says :

$ perlpanel
Failed to open file '': No such file or directory at /usr/lib/perlpanel/PerlPanel.pm line 288.
$

I get a similar error with perlpanel-run-dialog :

$ perlpanel-run-dialog
Failed to open file '': No such file or directory at /usr/lib/perlpanel/PerlPanel/Applet/Commander.pm line 72.
$

The icon files are present (in /usr/share/icons).

I don't know why this happens, as some arch users reported it to work flawlessly.
And unfortunately, my perl knowledge isn't good enough...

If you need some more information, just let me know.

tapi
