The hold cursor makes use of a QGraphicsTextItem now to display the text, using OpenGL works for me.
Besides the change, using OpenGL seems not to be a big win, frameworks like EXA may have better potential.

Closing the bug now, if the issue is still there, please re-open :)

This bug only hits me when I turn on Hardware Acceleration.

Normally [G] combined with mouse up or down shows the gain cursor, and the new gain value on the right of it. When using Hardware Acceleration the gain value does NOT show, instead only a white box next to the cursor is visible. This bug only happens when your mouse cursor is on the painting canvas, not when on the timeline, etc...
