OK, so I can close it. Such issues will not occur anymore when goffice will not have any gnome dependecy (at least gnome-vfs should be gone when we can use gvfs).

That must have been it - there were some dependency problems with goffice package, and as a result it was getting compiled with only gtk stuff enabled. I did not check back then, but now everything seems to work OK.

Just a question about he goffice package in fedora: with which flags is it built? If it is built with --without-gnome, mime type recognition will not work, which would explain the issue.

reply to #4: gchempaint does not store its recently opened files list, gtk+ does the job, so it is not a surprise.

about #5, that's quite strange, gchempaint does the same thing as nautilus AFAIK, so if nautilus detects application/x-gchempaint (as displayed in properties), gchempaint should do too.

Sorry for mail spam, but I discovered that file -> open works if you specify application/x-gchempaint mime type instead of automatic detection. So it looks like just the autodetection fails for some unknown reason.

gcp:chemistry. I have noticed something suspicious, after nuking ~/.gchempaint and ~/.gconf/apps/gchempaint, the recent docs list was still not empty. Can this be related?

what is the root node of the files? <chemistry> or <gcp:chemistry xmlns="http://www.nongnu.org/gchempaint">?
Old files (with just <chemistry>) are not always recognized by gnome-vfs (it gives text/plain as mime type)

It does recognise them. Weird problem indeed.

if nautilus recognize the files as gchempaint files, things should work. I have no idea otherwise at the moment.

Hello. Something strange has happened - after I upgraded to Fedora 7, I can no longer open *.gchempaint files. Double click in nautilus, as well as file -> open in gchempaint results in format not supported message. Before the upgrade everything worked OK, and I did rebuild the packages. Is there any verbose mode I could use to check what is going on? Cheers.
