I'm using debian sid, libfreetype6 2.2.1-6.
And I tested it with ftview from freetype2-demos package.

To reproduce this problem, follow this instructions:

1. Download baekmuk fonts
$ wget http://kldp.net/frs/download.php/1429/baekmuk-ttf-2.2.tar.gz

2. Untar it.
$ tar xzf baekmuk-ttf-2.2.tar.gz

3. Run ftview
$ ftview -f 3058 ppem baekmuk-ttf-2.2/ttf/batang.ttf

4. Press '2' key in ftview window to enable embolden.
Then the glyphs will be changed to bold and you can see same picture.

I can't repeat this with the current CVS version of FreeType.
Which FreeType version do you use?

The artifitial embolden makes unexpected results with some korean fonts.

It is easier to explain with images, so I attached some screen shots of ftview.
The first image shows normal korean text and the second one shows same text with embolden.

The lower part of some characters with embolden looks thinner than normal.
Th unicode code points of the displayed korean characters are from U+B2C9 to U+B2D4.

The font is baekmuk batang. You can get it here:
http://kldp.net/frs/download.php/1429/baekmuk-ttf-2.2.tar.gz

Not only these characters has this problem, but also other chars has.
And some commertial fonts also has this problem.
