Never mind, I've been starting gnokii with LD_LIBRARY_PATH and sudo, which ignores LD_LIBRARY_PATH, so gnokii CVS was ending up using the system libgnokii3. Sudo worked for me with 6310i serial connection since the device node was chowned. I was too lazy to chown the USB device node since it was different every time.

With hotplug, I could define scripts to chown certain devices to the currently logged in user. Anything similar with udev, before I dive into the docs?

Hmm, after reconnecting the cable I can't reproduce the problem any more. The device gets opened, and I get the identification. I'll reopen the bug when the problem occurs again (this happens regularly).

Thanks for the help!

Try connect and reconnect cable serveral times. Make sure you have rw permission to /proc/bus/usb/002/003

If it still doesn't work please show lsusb -vvv before running gnokii and after.

It doesn't come that far, REGISTER_DRIVER(nokia_6510, NULL) fails (couldn't see further yet since my rhgdb crashes there).

Hello Paweł,

thanks for the fast response!

ls -la /dev/ttyACM0 shows

crw-rw---- 1 root dialout 166, 0 Aug 25 09:59 /dev/ttyACM0

No device is opened, so the following lines from the log are misleading:

Serial device: opening device /dev/ttyACM0
Couldn't open PHONET device: No such file or directory

Thanks in advance,
Baurzhan.
