I switched from gnubiff to mail-notification because of problems (possibly due to lack of documentation) with gnubiff.

But I miss being able to "turn off" the "new mail" icon, which gnubiff allows me to do. It appears to me that the only way to make the icon disappear is to open the mail reader and read the new messages.

When the "new mail" icon appears and I see that none of the messages are sufficiently important to warrant an interruption to read mail, it would be nice to be able to click on the icon (or on a menu item) and make the "new mail" icon disappear until the next message arrives.

I am running mail-notification 4.1 in Debian "testing" on an i386 machine with the gnome desktop.
