I would consider to change the priority of this msg to DEBUG. Anyways, as this is not a harmful bug closing the thread.

It isn't necessary that all xlators define the notify() symbol. This warning message is completely harmless. Closing bug.

In my debug logs I see.

D [xlator.c:115:xlator_set_type] xlator: attempt to load file /opt/local/lib/glusterfs/1.3.8pre5/xlator/features/posix-locks.so
D [xlator.c:145:xlator_set_type] xlator: dlsym(notify) on dlsym(0x100b30, notify): symbol not found -- neglecting

which appears quite bad (but isn't after trolling thru the code).

This is because there is no notify() routine in xlators/features/posix-locks/src/posix-locks.c as there are in other shared libararies of this type.

Can you add a dummy notify() routine so that these logs don't turnup
