An improved version of this algorithm (supporting anti-aliasing) is already used by libgag to draw lines in software rendering. Furthermore, libgag's version uses integer only. I suggest reading its source code.

while the possibility to draw walls is a long awaited feature it could get eased further by implementing some stupid line algo that doesn't go horizontal first and vertical after that. maybe i will look into it.

with a slight modification, as globs can walk diagonally:
add a "plot" to the case
if error ≥ 0.5 then
y := y + ystep
error := error - 1.0

i classified this a minor bug as i think it is irritating the way it is now. reclassify it a wish if you wish.
