Please use:
rfcomm_channel = 8
setting in your gnokiirc. Currently you have set it to 18.

No, I am not sure. Do the messages get through with a wrong channel? Can the phone receive them that way? I don't know enough about bluetooth to say.

I'm quite sure that the phone receives the sent messages. I see the bluetooth icon flashing and the backlight turns on when it receives messages.
