new fuse should be used for new kernels (kernel version >=2.6.25)

closing the bug.

New fuse tarball (v2.7.4) is out now. It can be used to build against kernels greater than 2.6.25..

Has anyone had any luck with this? The Debian Lenny distro now uses the 2.6.25 kernel, and am running into the same issue.

Yes! few kernel APIs have changed and we can't get to compile FUSE kernel module any more with stock kernel after 2.6.25 kernel. Miklos (FUSE developer) suggests that we use the stock kernel fuse only. We are thinking of submitting a patch to fuse project to include all the changes we made into kernel module.

For now, with 2.6.25 default kernel module has to be used with libfuse from either 2.7.3 (stock fuse), or 2.7.3glfs10.

Amar

I'm using Archlinux(x86_64) with the 2.6.25 kernel, and the make command gives the following error:

inode.c:693: error: unknown field ‘read_inode’ specified in initializer

I'm not quite sure if I did the configure correctly (I have only done a few make installs), but this error shows up on other boards on the internet for other packages and it seems to be some change in the 2.6.25 kernel that set it off.

Let me know if there is anything else you'd like to know.
